Role Overview

This role focuses on managing and supporting MySQL databases in production environments. We are looking for someone with strong fundamentals in MySQL, who has also had some exposure to AWS / Amazon RDS, and is keen to grow in a cloud-based database environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain MySQL databases
  • Perform performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, slow query analysis)
  • Handle database backups and recovery processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and availability issues
  • Support databases hosted on Amazon RDS (AWS)
  • Work closely with developers for query and schema optimization
  • Manage users, roles, and database access controls
  • Assist in database deployments, migrations, and routine maintenance

Required Skills

  • Hands-on experience with MySQL administration
  • Strong knowledge of SQL queries, joins, and indexing
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization
  • Understanding of backup & restore strategies
  • Familiarity with Linux environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues in production systems

Good to Have

  • Exposure to Amazon RDS / AWS, DynamoDB
  • Basic knowledge of replication (read replicas)
  • Scripting knowledge (Shell/Python)
  • Exposure to monitoring tools

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong MySQL fundamentals (this is the core requirement)
  • Practical experience working on live/production databases
  • Basic hands-on exposure to AWS RDS (not just theoretical knowledge)
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and grow
